Traveling Expectantly

Neither Barb nor I could sleep very well on Thursday night, we were wondering what our day of travel would bring. Thursday I took the dog to stay with Matt and Rachel in MA, brought back our nephew Stephen who would be traveling with us and watered all the plants in preparation for our departure at 5:00AM Friday morning. Our next door neighbor had agreed to transport us to Bradley Airport for the first leg of our flight west, from Hartford to Phoenix, so we were up at 3:30AM to begin our preparations.

After 5 plus hours of flying we arrived in Phoenix where we had a two hour layover. We contacted a former parishoner who now lives here and complained about the cloudy and cool weather they were having. He assured us it was most unusual. We had time to grab a lunch of overpriced airport food and then head on to Spokane, WA to meet two of our sons and their wives and travel north to British Columbia.
We arrived 20 minutes late in Spokane (due to a late departure from Phoenix) and were able to meet up with sons Robbie and David and their wives. We rented our vehicles and began the journey north to BC. We stopped for supper along the way, had "fun" at the border crossing from Idaho into British Columbia, bought some groceries, saw many deer and a moose along the road, and arrrived at our condo in Kimberley at about 9:30 PM Mountain Time (Spokane is actually in the Western time zone and then we came back into the mountain time zone as we came into Idaho and north into BC). It was fun seeing everyone who was already here (those who had come early to attend the Calgary Stampede) and a number more will arrive on Saturday. The condo we will being staying in is very nice (shown below) but it is being with family and making memories that has always been the highlight of our previous reunions. Our day finally ended when we went to bed at 11:30 mountain time, a mere 22 hours after our day began. We thank God for His provision of safety and continue to anticipate the blessing of being together. To Him be the glory forever!
